We are very much looking forward to welcome Princess A Sibanda as our first post-doctoral Marie Jahoda Fellow at the Ruhr University Bochum in the winter term 23/24.
PRINCESS A SIBANDA is a scholar artivist. Her research interests lie in participatory performance forms of the everyday and their intersections with race, gender and sexualities in Africa. She holds a PhD from the University of Kwazulu Natal and a MA in Drama & Performance Studies (summa cum laude) from the same institution. Currently, she is a post-doctoral fellow under the SARChI Chair in Sexualities, Genders and Queer Studies, University of Fort Hare, working with Prof. Zintombizethu Matebeni, our Marie Jahoda Fellow from last year.
While in Bochum, Princess will be involved in research activities surrounding the international summer school “Queer Masculinities”, taking place in East London (South Africa) next march. At RUB, Princess will work in particular with Prof. Henriette Gunkel from the Institute for Media Studies and Paulena Müller from the DFG Graduate School “Das Dokumentarische. Exzess und Entzug”.

Princess A Sibanda will give a public lecture on 17 January 2024 at 6 pm within the context of the MaJaC Colloquium (Registration by mail to maximiliane.brand@rub.de). The title of the lecture is Theatre of/for Disobedience: An African Queer Resistance.
A workshop on the topic Bodies Don’t Lie: Towards Embodied Methodologies will take place on 23 January 2024 at 5 pm. The workshop is aimed at students, staff, practitioners, activists from any discipline but have interests in gender, sexualities & queer studies. The number of participants is limited to 30.
