Prof. Zintombizethu Matebeni (UFH, South Africa): Jendeva: on way-making and (female masculine) refusals [ENTFÄLLT]

In the summer semester we welcome Prof. Zintombizethu Matebeni as part of the lecture series of the AG Männlichkeiten:

Building on previous work on Nongayindoda (Matebeni, 2021) this paper similarly moves beyond gender by detangling femininity from women and female persons, revisiting female masculinity while imagining possible futures. Drawing from cultural texts in South Africa, the paper introduces a language of jenda that is not reliant on bodily markings but on wandering, way-making and refusals.
